Note: You can only enable 2FA when your current login method is with email + password. Read more about how to switch to 2FA when you have SSO enabled.

How to enable 2FA

  1. First, make sure you have an authenticator app (e.g. Authy, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator) downloaded to your phone or laptop

  2. From anywhere in the tool, click Settings in the sidebar

  3. Next, click My profile and scroll down to Two-Factor Authentication

  4. Click Enable two-factor authentication

  5. Enter your password in the pop-up, and click Continue

  6. Use your authenticator app to scan the QR code or type the provided code in your authenticator app. After you’ve connected the authenticator app, click Continue

  7. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app and click Confirm code

  8. Next, please make sure to download the backup code list. This way you will avoid locking yourself out of your account if your authenticator app is lost, broken, or removed.

Done! You’ve enabled 2FA and from now on, every login will require two-factor authentication.

Note: After enabling 2FA, you will be logged out of any other Homerun session you might have opened elsewhere.

How to log in with 2FA

  1. Enter your email and password

  2. Next, check your authenticator app and fill in the 6-digit code

  3. You are now logged in.

Note: If you’re already logged in and your browser session expires while you’re working, you will be required to log in again with 2FA via a pop-up that appears in the UI. After logging in, you will be redirected to back to the page you had opened.

How to disable 2FA

  1. From anywhere in the tool, click Settings in the sidebar

  2. Next, click My profile and scroll down to Two-Factor Authentication

  3. In the 2FA box, click Disable

  4. Enter your password

  5. Next, click Disable two-factor authentication in the pop-up to confirm your choice

  6. From that point on, you will log in without 2FA, and you won’t be required to enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app.

I have trouble logging in with 2FA

Troubleshooting

Technical issues (unfortunately!) happen, so if you have trouble using the 6-digit code to log in, you can try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check the timer on your authentication app and try entering a new code.

  2. Use one of the backup codes we provided when you enabled 2FA.

If the issue persists, please reach out to support@homerun.co with the email address you use for Homerun.

Password reset with 2FA

If you decide to reset your password, this will not change your 2FA settings. To reset your password, click Forgot password from the login page. Please note that you won’t immediately be logged in. Once you’ve reset the password, you can log in with your new password and will be asked to complete the 2FA.

Switching to SSO with 2FA enabled

If you have email + password and 2FA enabled, and then you switch to SSO settings, the 2FA step from Homerun will not be required anymore. In your general settings, 2FA will stay enabled, so if you switch back to email and password login, 2FA will automatically continue to be required again without any additional setup.

Switching from SSO to email + password with 2FA

  1. From anywhere in the tool, click Settings in the sidebar

  2. Next, click My profile and scroll down to Login method

  3. Click Email and password

  4. Set a password and click Save changes

  5. To enable 2FA, follow the steps at the top of this article.
